Luxemburg Spring Show

The Spring Show of Luxemburg, means, every year again, very little sleep. The clock moves one hour ahead, due to Summertime and the Bobtails and Beardies are always judged on Sunday. Normally I would have taken a hotel, but due to the puppies at home this was not an option. By the way, our good and dear friend Chris Beirendonk had just freshly been operated at her shoulder and I had promised her, to take her with me and show her “Luka”. Our two teenagers “Norman” and “Senta” I had entered, together with our beautiful Beardie Bitch “Prada”. The sheerest nonsense and just not do-able by yourself. My life savers where Harry and Daisy, our faithful dog sitter. She arrived at 05.00 that morning (new time) and stayed until we returned at 20.30 that evening, to take care of Niki and her puppies but also the other dogs. Harry was a brilliant driver and the man for the rough work, but also the star photographer. After having slept for only 2 hours  next to the whelping box, it was wonderful that Harry rode and Chris kept him company. I had the possibility to sleep a little in the back seat. Mrs. Gloria Wagner was the judge for the 15 OES. Norman and Senta had truly remained clean with great difficulty and have truly accomplished and fullfilled their first steps in the show ring. I was more than satisfied.

“Norman” won the Youth Class. Here together with Judge Mrs. Gloria Wagner. Luxemburg Youth Champion and Crufts qualifier “Norman Harrison aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”.

His litter sister “Senta” did the same and also won the Youth Class with all titles and qualifications “No Limits aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”.

Afterwards I wanted to show Chris her “Luka” in the Open Class. But I had already won two times. That was a difficulty. There are not many judges who possess the courage to let the same exhibitor win 3 time in a row. Chris rather wanted to try it herself. Not easy with only one hand available and the other in a sling. I stayed available in the background, in case it would not work. Everything went well and Chris won with her “Look at me or Snowboot Bears”, which is now a Luxembourg Champion.

With our Beardies we also won everything. After that a long wait  began until the judging at the Big Ring would start for the Best Junior, Male and Female. Harry had pulled back in the car to sleep a little, so that he was fit for the way back. On Mondays he gets up at 05.00 to drive to work. Thank you Harry.

The German Allround Judge Mr. Horst Kliebenstein, judged the Best Young Male and Best Young Bitch. Together with “Norman” about 80 other youth dogs of all breeds where in the ring. Norman did a perfect job and I am so proud of my Teddy Bear. He became 2nd Best Of All Youth Males, won an enormous cup and pleased his owner.
After this I had to go in to the Ring with “Senta” for Best Youth Bitch. She also did a perfect job, but we didn’t win anything. Something that you can’t expect, if you have just been standing on the highest stage.

By 17:00 Hrs we left Luxembourg in the pouring rain and with strong winds. This made it very dangerous driving on the highway and we were tossed from left to right with our bus. There were branches all over the highway. All very dangerous. Thank God, Harry is a very experienced driver and I was glad I did not have to sit behind the steering wheel. At home we could not get out of the bus. It rained so much that we have been waiting for 15 minutes. But all’s well that ends well.

Amanda Munro was in Scotland at the CC Show of the Scottish OES Club. Here judged Mark Wibier/GER the OES. Amanda was with her Orfelia, became Best Puppy and was also qualified for Crufts.
