Little Bobtail pups in the garden

Breeding Bobtails

Breeding is like painting a picture, it is very cereative. Everytime again I am so curious if my “painting” is eyecatching or lets say if the breeding is fullfilling my expectations.

I started breeding Bobtails back in the early seventies. Now 48 years later I am still alive and kicking! Every time puppies are born I am excited to see the results of my combinations. I proudly bred more than 156 champions and hope to breed future champions as well.
My principle attached to the showing is: “A champion is only a champion when he is as good inside as he is outside”, meaning his hips should be A or B, his eyes should be clear of inherited eye-diseases. He should not have undergone surgery on OCD or something similar. In a few words: only a healthy champion is a real champion!
More about champions

But as important as the champions are all those happy family dogs and their happy owners, who live together with their Elbe-Urstromtal OES and daily feel the joy of sharing many happy years with their dogs, until the old age of 11-16 years. That gives me a happy feeling as a breeder.

My most beautiful dogs

I have had so many litters in the past 40 years. So many have been special and so many champions have been made up. A Special litter was my H-litter in 1978, where my famous “Hot Dog” (Bürste) come out of. Another litter born on 01-04-2000, 8 puppies and 7 became a champion like Z’Bushybear, Zixapril, Zowhat, Zinfandel, Zuckerguss,Zaratustra and Zatopeck.

Often I was asked which were my most beautiful dogs. Very hard to answer, I have bred so many wonderful dogs. On the other hand I could mix an ideal male out of “Kassenknüller”, “Zermatt” and “Not for Sale” with a dash of “Stonebrook California Breeze”and “Zecret Zorro”. Looking at the females I could imagine a combination of “Hot Dog”, “Uniclever” and “Now Available”, although I find that “Dime” (Now Available) combines everything I have been looking for in a Bobtail lady. Her daughter “Ginger” (Crufts winner and GB-Ch Y’Lookalike aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal) mixed with my wonderful and sweet “Bandita” (Super-Multi Ch. Elbandita aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal) would the maximum for me.

Breeding standard

I like a Teddybear-lookalike OES  with the wonderful OES Temperament (free of any agression) and very social and friendly. The size for a male should be between 61cm and 63 cm and for a bitch between 56 and 60 cm. But size is not so important for me. A male must be masculine and a bitch feminine on first view, no matter of size.
To be honest quite close to my ideal of an OES is my own male “Texas” (Eldorado). So cobby so much substance, such a wonderful mover and the most gentle temperament, on top wonderful dark eyes.
