Great Malvern in the UK

I pokered and lost. For that I drove 1400 Km, paid 130 euro for the eurotunnel-passage, 85 euros for the hotel and made a 3rd place.

Yes! I should have know on forehand, could have known, had to know, but he or she who doesn’t dare doesn’t win. In this specific case loose.

I already knew Mark James, when he was working as a kennelboy at Mrs. Backx-Bennick. Than, for years, he was together with Stuart Mallard and now since ages with Glen Davis. I think that adds up to 33 years. Somewhere over the years he became judge and yes I have shown under him in 1994 als in Great Malvern. At that time, “Zermatt”, just 1 day out of quarantine, I travelled over from the World Winner in Switzerland. By that time Mark was still our Mark and we knew what type of dog he preferred. Zermatt made BOB and won the first of 13 CC’s. For years, Mark was a judge under which people who had our kind of type loved to show. In 2008 he also judged at the OES Clubshow in the UK. Someone wispered into my ear, that he very much liked our “Eldorado” and that he would be honored if he was allowed to judge this dog…… After long period of thinking  we drove and got a 3rd place in the Open Class. As I do not want to go further in detail, you can believe me, that we where slightly upset.

Since than I kept out of Mark’s area and was sad, upset and dissapointed. Now 4 years later het again judged in Great Malvern and again the OES. Our “Jadore”, in fact, is for 200% his type and normally he loves pretty, feminine, short bitches. My good friend Matteo assured me and was also convinced, that we would fall in love with Doro immediately.

It was a cold, raining day, it took ages before we finally started at 14.00 hrs. Yes and than we discovered, that this type, he had always liked, didn’t like anymore. Maybe there are other reasons, who knows.

Anyway, Doro became 3rd in Open Class and Mark James is in my personal Top Ten of people not to got to anymore, all the way at the top. But I think he doesn’t care.

For me too, but this experience was an expensive one, that has cost lots of time. Harry had to take 2 days of leave, because I had to travel Thursday afternoon and came back Fridaynight around midnight.
