Exhibitions in December 2023

December will be another busy exhibition month for us with 3 shows in a row.

The annual exhibition of the British Sheepdogs Club took place in Merelbeke/Belgium on December 3rd, 2023. Merelbeke is very close to Ghent, which is almost 2 hours drive. “Uschi” needed the last CAC after winning the first CAC in Belgium over a year ago. Mike and Lilianne Friederich decided to show “Uschi’s” brother “Udo Jürgens aus dem Elbe Urstromtal” at an exhibition. The smaller and mostly cozy club shows are more than ideal. Ms. V. Degetere from Belgium had to judge 9 OES, of which 2 were champions (male and female). Chris van Beirendonk starts this day with “Casanova”. This is a puppy that we got from Denisa from the Czech Republic. He has a great and very promising pedigree.

He is also very beautiful, at least we, Chris and I, think so. This was confirmed that day:

Best youngest class and later best in show among the youngest

“DEMABO Casanova”  bred by Denisa Bohuslavova, owner Chris van Beirendonk

(Father: Emerson Bambini Di Praga (a son of the great Ch. Hot’n Spicy from the Elbe-Urstromtal) Mother: Ch. Mona Lisa aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal, a litter sister to “Ch. Queensize aus dem  Elbe-Urstromtal)

Then it was “Skipper’s” turn. Chris was kind enough to show him  for us. Everything went very well and Skipper won over the other males and became

Best male “Udo Jürgens aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal” owners  Liliane and Mike Friederich

“Uschi” did everything good and became best of the breed over her brother and was also “Belgian Champion” on that day, her 6th title in 2023.

The day before, on Saturday December 2nd, the Christmas exhibition of the Danish OES Club took place in Denmark, in Lille Skensved. 28 OES were registered for the breed specialist and former breeder Mr. L.J Hjorth from Norway. The largest class with 6 males was the male champion class. This was won by “Ch. Seepferdchen aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”, who later also won Best Male of the exhibition. The owner is Amilia Helin from Sweden.

The weekend of December 9th/10th, 2023 was VERY successful for our breeding:

In Mexico there was the 3 day Winter Circuit exhibition in Mexico City. My dear Angeliqua Cordova from Guatemala had sent her “Aramis” to her friend and handler David Padilla to take part in these shows. That was a VERY good decision!

“Van Cleef from the Elbe Urstromtal” won:

2x 3rd Best in Show

3x Best of Group 1

3 x Best of Breed

New champion: Mexican champion (No 173 in the Elbe-Urstromtal and the 6th champion child for his father “Rock me Amadeus)

also: Pan American Champion and Intercontinental Champion

The judges were: Mr. A. Rojas/Mex, Mr. R. Paquette/Canada, Mrs. S. Deptuch-Flechter/Canada and Mr. M. Lepasaar from Finland

Angeliqua wrote on Facebook

Cornelia Loest Thank you for trusting me with this beautiful boy. He makes us all proud.
David Padilla Thank you for your friendship, your work and dedication with my shaggy animals.
Aramis is a dog that I have dreamed of for many years. I thought that maybe I could never have a dog like that, and it turns out he came and was the right one.

A 3-day CAC/CACIB exhibition also took place in Prague/CZ this weekend:

“Verliebt aus dem  Elbe Urstromtal” was shown by its owner, Ms. A. Bardelli/CH.

She received 2nd place with Res-CAC from judges R. Kotlar from Hungary and Mrs. M. O’Sullivan from Ireland.

The breed specialist and breeder of this breed, Mr. M. Wibier from the Netherlands, gave  “Verliebt” with Excellent 1, CAC and Res-CACIB

In sunny California the lovely Georgina Jensen was at the exhibition of the Salinas Kennel Club with her “Underpressure from the Elbe-Urstromtal”.

“Fritzi” won Excellent 1 and Res Champion

and we were at the Christmas exhibition in Gorinchem/NL with “Caro” and “Uschi”. This is always a cozy exhibition with lots of space and relaxed people. For the judge, Ms. L Mouchart-Kleingeld/NL, 10 OES were registered, 3 males and 7 females.

Chris van Beirendonk had her birthday that day and got a nice present: Best male with her “Sam” Vouge Versus Versage of Snowboot Bears” from the youth class. He is a really great male. His proud father is “Udo Jürgens aus dem  Elbe -Urstomtal”

Res- Beste male CACIB was  Gesa Milde with Ch. Pulverfass aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”, who now also has the title of International Champion.

As always, the youth class won by  “Vorbildlich aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal” Unfortunately we don’t have a photo.

“Uschi” closed the round with the best of the breed “Uschi Glas aus dem  Elbe-Urstromtal”, unfortunately the judge who was supposed to judge group 1 had become ill. The replacing judge, Mr. Jos de Cuyper/BEL, had nothing left for us. “Uschi” will now take a break. She has won so much in 2023, that is a measring mark for others.

As always at this exhibition, there was the traditional Christmas party for ALL OES exhibitors. A very good thing, after all we all love the same breed, whether competitor or not.

It also got well and we celebrated Chris van Beirendonk on her birthday

The last exhibition in 2023 was the Belgian Winner in Brussels/BEL on December 16th and 17th, 2023. There are 4 exhibitions on 2 days with 2x CACIB and 2x CAC shows. The only interesting thing about it, is the double CAC that is available in every class. It takes a lot of willpower for me to take part in this show. Why? The judging starts at 8 a.m. with the first show, the second show is from 1 p.m. Parking and the mega-long route to the halls is dramatic. Last year the halls were freezing cold. There is little space for the exhibitors. A highlight are the beautiful, Christmas-decorated rings. The Ring of Honor is really beautifully decorated and there are lots of Christmas photo spots. BUT, if the entrance is at 6.30 in the morning, it’s raining and the parking lot is almost a marathon distance from the halls, then you have to ask yourself whether you want to go through that. It is also very expensive to register for the 4th exhibition. The judges were: 1 x it doesn’t work for us at all, 2 x we have trust and one so-so la la. In other words: we didn’t register on Saturday morning. This also has been good. We agreed with Chris who would register which dog in which class.. We knew that Alain  from France came and he also needed CAC’s. Luckily, we are so sporty among ourselves that we have agreed that if someone has everything and someone needs something else, we won’t go into the ring with the dog anymore. A good thing, if that’s the case. I registered my “Caro” for 1x Saturday CAC and Sunday 1 CACIB and 1 x CAC in the intermediate class because she turned 15 months old exactly on Saturday. We have also registered our “Ocean” for the 3 shows in the champion class. For Sunday I asked Gerad Jolink to register her “Ch. Ulta Chic from the Elbe-Urstromtal” in the open morning and afternoon in the champion class. We hoped that everyone could win what they needed.

This is how our experiment went:

Chris and Alain won everything in the morning with the judge Mr. Spryt/BEL, so Alain no longer had to show his champion bitch. He only needed 1 CAC for his male dogs.

In the afternoon there was a great win for us, but a bitter disappointment for the others. The judge Mr. N. Smolic from Croatia, who once had bobtails himself, gave the other 3 dogs a VERY GOOD rating. “Ocean” Ch. Love’n Stuff Elbe Urstromtal” received the CAC in the champion class and has a new title: Belgian Champion. Our “Caro” Multi Junior Ch. “Vorzüglich aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal” won the first CAC and became best of the breed. There was a bit of unrest among the exhibitors, the judge explained very clearly what he wanted to see. There was no ring of honor at the CAC Show, only for the CACIB Show. Poor Alain couldn’t go home now and had to go the next come back next day for his last CAC.

Wir haben wiederum unsere kleine Weihnachtsfeier abgehalten mit alles OES Ausstellern. Unsere beiden englischen Aussteller kamen etwas später dazu.

We had to be at the halls in the middle of the night the next morning to park somewhere on the shoulder so that the walk to the halls didn’t take forever. The day before, many exhibitors had to travel 1.5 hours from the parking lot to the halls.

We went to the hotel in the evening and went to bed in time. The alarm clock rang at 4.15, departure to hall 5.15, arrival hall 5.30. The first exhibitors arrived at around 6 a.m. in order to wait in front of the closed gate in time. We were in second place and waited 45 minutes in wind and drizzle. Finally at 6.15 the gates opened and the long walk into the hall could begin. Thank God everything was covered.

The judging of the OES began at 8:10 with the Luxembourg allround judge Ms. Melchior. “Ocean” no longer took part, she had everything, but Gerda Jolink came with “Ch. Ultrachic aus dem  Elbe Urstromtal”. Chris Beirendonk had decided not to come until the afternoon because she didn’t need anything more in the morning. As a result, we were only left with 4 OES, 2 males and 2 females. “Caro” became Best Female over “Ultrachic” and got her first CACIB at exactly 15 months. PERFECT! Gerad won with “Ultrachic” the double CAC out of  open class.

“Vorzüglich aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal” Best female, the judge Ms. Melchior/LUX and Res- Best female “Ch. Ultrachic aus dem  Elbe-Urstromtal” with owner Gerda Jolink

Best of the breed was won by Alain Labous with “Ch. Spartacus of Realty Dream”, which was good because it was only 9 a.m. and you are obliged to go to the Ring of Honor, otherwise your entitlements will be taken away. The Ring of Honor started the day before around 6 p.m….

” Vorbildlich aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal” Best bitch

If I had had any sense, I would have packed and go home at 10 in the morning. But I wanted to present my beautiful “Caro” to the judge Pedro Delrue from Portugal for the first time (and now for the last time!) for judging. That’s why I was so stupid and stayed until 2 p.m. to come 2nd out of the 3 remaining bitches. I still make stupid mistakes too.
