Exhibitions November 2025
On Sunday, November 9, 2025, the traditional International Exhibition in Metz/France, took place. Gesa Milde surprised us with news from this show. Her “Floris” won the CACIB, CAC and was Best of Breed. The judge was Mr Guy Devriendt from Belgium.
The crowning moment was the 2nd place in Group 1 for Ch. “Wanted you aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”

The 2 entered OES: BOB Ch. Wanted you aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal, judge Mr Devriendt, BOS Pleuni Hoogwerf with Ch. “Joy of Jive of Rocky’s Destiny”

It was time again for the autumn shows in Dortmund. Always a mega event, this time together with a horse exhibition. Monika Fuss and I drove to the AGRIA Winner Show on Friday, November 7, 2025. Very relaxed, as we were only judged around 1 pm. That makes driving through the Ruhr area on a Friday bearable. Mr John Wauben from the Netherlands judged the 12 entered OES. The DOES Club was the organiser, and, as every year, dear Mrs Noll managed the ring as secretary, show manager, rosette distributor, and photographer excellently—a big thank you to Mrs Noll at this point.
Peter, Heidi, and Winnetou represented us. That was enough to win everything you can win with three dogs.
“Heidi” became Best of Breed with CACIB, CAC, etc. “X’Texas Amarillo aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”
“Peter” became Best Male, also with all certificates “X’Texas El Paso aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”
and “Winnetou aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal” owner Chris van Beirendonk became Res-Best Male and thus fulfilled all conditions for the German VDH Champion
“Peter”, with thanks to Chris for showing for BOB, which went to “Heidi”. The judge, Mr Wauben

Best Male “Peter” and Res-Best Male “Winnetou”

Afterwards, we looked for a spot near the big main ring. There, “Heidi” had to compete at 5:30 pm for the Group 1 judging. The judge for this competition was Mr Claus Peter Fricke/GER, President of the Club for British Sheepdogs and a busy judge for many breeds.
“Heidi” shows her great and correct movement to the judge.

Full concentration

The big surprise moment: Group 1 is won by the Old English Sheepdog, our “Heidi”

On Saturday, we all recovered at home and recharged for Sunday, the Bundessieger Exhibition. At 4:30 am, the alarm rang for Paul and me—departure at 6 am, arrival in Dortmund just before 8 am, with rain. The halls only open at 8:30, and the covered area in front of the entrance is small. That’s why it’s always crowded there. The doors opened late, and scanning the QR codes didn’t go smoothly. We were at the ring by 9 am, already well filled with exhibitors and their many tables, cages, chairs, etc. At 10 am, we were the first breed in the British Sheepdog ring. There, a very well-coordinated team works with the dear Honnef family. The judge was Mr Claus Peter Fricke, who gave us Group 1 yesterday. Nevertheless, I was more than tense because of some unpleasant incidents involving a Beardie exhibitor. There were 13 OES entered, but unfortunately, only eight were present.
Heidi is in the intermediate class with her competitor, Germany’s most winning OES 2025, “Mac Garits Bella Bertha”

“Peter” became Res Best Male and also the new German Champion
“Heidi” became Best of Breed, Bundessieger and new German VDH Champion.
The judge, Mr Fricke
Best Male was Chris van Beirendonk with her “Charly”, the US import “Love’n Stuff All American Snowbootbear”

Now it was time to kill the time until 5:30 pm to go to the main ring again, to compete in Group 1 at the Bundessieger and later for Best in Show at the AGRIA Winner.
We settled at my favourite spot. The passage from the halls to the main ring is brilliant. Everyone passes by there, and I always meet many dear acquaintances from the show world. I love these nice encounters and little chats. That’s the social aspect of shows.
Group 1 was actually supposed to be judged by Mr Peter Friederich, President of the VDH. He had to cancel due to illness. So Mr G. Jipping, all-rounder and Vice President of the FCI, took over. Since we had a significant disagreement 1.5 years ago, I expected zero chances. BUT……
“Heidi” did everything right again, and we took 2nd place in Group 1. Very satisfied.

In Best in Show, we were among the seven unplaced dogs. It’s always a matter of luck whether you end up on the podium.
Our haul from 2 days in Dortmund with Peter and Heidi. The trophies are huge. Now I have to find a place to display them.

2 days in Dortmund and a relaxed Monday morning.
