CRUFTS/UK and Offenburg/GER

CRUFTS is the biggest Dog Show in the world and is held in Birmingham/UK every year in the beginning of March. In the old days it was held in London. The first time I was at Crufts, was in 1975 and since than I hardly missed any Show. You just drive to it, as spectator or as a participant. That is possible since 2001, as the import prohibition for Dogs was changed. It is exactly 10 years ago, that in 2003 our Multi Ch. GB-Ch. bitch “Y’Lookalike aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal” won at Crufts under Mrs. Christina Bailey. In those days approximately 180 OES had been entered. Over the years it got less than that. This year Mrs. P. Bradley (Hibray OES)  judged the OES and had a fair amount of entries, being 122 OES. This lady judged the Euro OES in Germany in May of last year. By the time there was a lot of public criticism in the media about her way of judging. Apparently she judgd without having any clear line  and just placed as she wanted. Due to the fact that Bandita was having her puppies, I could not show here. However, “Jadore” should be her type: small, short, feminine and with a perfect color. So everything to impress her, I thought! After she had judged the males, I questioned myself if this was going in a good direction?  No, it didn’t, it was just horrible. After the lady had placed 4 dogs in the Open Class, I left the ring with “Jadore”, because I didn’t attach a great value to the fact to become placed 5th or 6th.

These are those days, on which I am asking myself if I am still all there and: driving 1400 Km in 42 Hours, 122 euros for the ferry, 150 euro fro the hotel and 72 euros for parking!!!! You also have to eat and someone has to be at the house to watch the dogs. On the way to Crufts (700 Km) in hopeful expectations is something, but driving back 700 Km with a lot of traffic jams, frustration and the fact that you have to drive  by your own, is another. And than I am asking myself the question if I am still there? I could have saved a lot of money and effort…

The only glimpse of light was the fact that the beautiful son of our Texas, won the Post Graduate Class. He is bred by and in possession of Colin and Pauline Barnes. His name is: “Auston Macopa Look at me”.

Offenburg/GER at the edge of the beautiful Black Forrest, held their CACIB Show during the Crufts weekend. Judge for the Bobtails was Mrs. E. Clerk from Switzerland. Just a few OES had been entered. At this weekend, the Vanbossche family celibrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary and that is best done at a Dog Show. Their “Floh” Ch. Justbecause aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal became Best Of Breed. Group 1 was judged by the Czech Rehnak and gave the Vanbossches their most beautiful gift for their Wedding Anniversary: He placed “Floh” 1st in Group 1. In 2012 our “Jadore aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”, won this Group, but that just as info.

Congratulations with your Wedding Anniversary
