Exhibitions November
Only one week after the great show in Bleiswijk was the traditional Bundessieger show in Dortmund. On 9.11.2024, the well-known Finnish all-rounder Mr Jussi Liimatainen judged the 17 OES entered. There were 3 ‘Elbe-Urstromtaler’ registered, who did very well.
‘Caro‘ Ch. Vorbildlich aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’ won Best of Breed and became Bundessiegerin . With this victory, she won the title ‘VDH Annual Winner 2024’. To do this, she must win the CACIB 4 times in 2024, 3 of which must be at the really big shows such as the Europa Sieger, the German Winner and the Bundessieger. So that is very difficult. But ‘Caro’ did it.
In the ring of honour ‘Caro’ was among the last 6 in group 1, the judge was a lady, Mrs K. Vanickova. ‘Caro’ embarrassed us a bit and put a small pile in the ring of honour. I was ashamed!!!!!
Chris van Beirendonk and her 13-month-old ‘Winnetou aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’ competed in the junior class for males. They became Bundesjugendsieger and Best Young Dog.
In group 1 of the young dogs ‘ Winntou’ was 1st with the German all-rounder Mr J. Eberhardt. That was already giga ….. This meant that my Chris had to return on Sunday for the Best in Show. I still had a bad cold and didn’t go. Crap…..
‘ Winnetou’ won the Res- BEST IN SHOW under the German all-rounder Mr G. Schäfer
His little sister ‘West Side Story aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’, owned by Martina Weissmann, had to settle for 2nd place.
Hier alles zusammengefasst vom Tag mit Dank an Martina Weissmann für die Videos und die verschiedenen Fotografen im Ehrenring.
On 24 November 2024, our Gerda Jolink travelled to Sandfjord in Norway with her ‘Ziva’. The all-rounder and long-time breeder of ‘Rosenhjorth’ bobtails judged his last show there. He retired as a judge at the age of 75. There were only 8 OES entered, 3 of which were bitches in the champion class. ‘Multi Ch. with 8 champion titles ‘Ultrachic aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’ was awarded 3rd place by him. That was very, very disappointing and incomprehensible. But that’s life sometimes….
‘Caro’ had another mandatory appointment…. we had to support the Belgian Club for British Herding Dogs and travelled to Antwerp for the club show on 24 November 2024. A total of 110 British herding dogs were entered, including 7 OES. The judge was english Lady Mrs A. King for our breed. There was a 2nd English Judge for Beardies and Border Collies. It was a long day but the wait was rewarded.
‘Vorbildlich aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’ won Best of Breed and later became BEST in SHOW
The last weekend in November and 1st December was the show marathon in Leeuwarden/NL. The Winner Show has been held there for a few years now. Previously it was always in Amsterdam, but they no longer want dogs in their halls. Leeuwarden is a 3-hour drive for us. The Frysian Cup Show took place on Friday. Unfortunately, only 2 to 3 males and 3 to 4 females of our breed were entered on these 3 days. A total of 2000 to 2500 dogs per day from many countries.
On Friday the Frenchman Mr Juanchioct judged, he is an all-rounder.
Best of breed ‘Ch. Vorbildlich aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’, best male in the junior class Chris van Beirendonk with ‘Winnetou aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’.
We got up at 5.30am, were at the hall at 7am, were in the ring at 9am and judged at 9.30am. The ring of honour started around 16.30 for Caro and me, Chris was even later with Winnetou for Best Junior judging.
It is a very large and beautiful ring of honour. The judge for Group 1 was Mrs R. Wagner-Hornstein from Luxembourg. She seems to like our ‘Caro’ very much. She gave us the coveted 1st place in this large Group 1.
These are moments of happiness that are indescribable. Mike Dols took this incredibly beautiful photo of the two of us
Here is the link to the lifestream, group 1 can be seen almost at the end
On Saturday 30-11-2024 we did not show ‘Caro’. We were not sure if the quality of our ‘Caro’ was good enough for the judge.
We had a relaxing day in our beautiful hotel. At lunchtime we went for a long walk with Caro. With socks on, of course, to keep her feet clean.
Our Chris van Beirendonk had entered her ‘Winntou aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’ for the Tulip Winner on 30 November 2024. The judge was the Dutch all-rounder Mr Jipping.
Best of breed ‘ Winnetou aus dem Elbe-Urstomtal’ (Photo with thanks to J. van Dijk)
The day ended perfectly for Chris and ‘Winnetou’. Mr Jipping judged the big group 1 and the only 14-month-old ‘Winnetou’ came 2nd in this giga group.
That was not all! Later at the group judging of the junior dogs, ‘Winnetou’ won group 1 under the famous Finnish all-rounder Mr J. Liimatainen
Here is the livestream from Saturday, group 1 was the first of the 10 groups to be judged that day.
it actually continues in December…… but we’ll squeeze it in here in November from the last day in Leeuwarden. This show was the most important of the 3 shows with the title win ‘Winner Leeuwarden’
On Sunday morning we got out of bed again at 5am, drove to Leeuwarden at 6.20am, at 6.50am in front of the hall, there was already a queue of other exhibitors. We were not judged until 10am that day. But arriving later is not an option, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to find space with our cages, table and chairs. Besides, we OES exhibitors always like to stand together.
Mr G. Jeavons from Canada judged today.
He also ended with ‘Caro’ as BOB and ‘Winnetou’ as Best Male. He finished his Dutch Junior Champion today. Both received the title ‘Winner Leeuwarden’
Once again, the long wait began. Group 1 of the 10 groups was the last to be judged that day at around 5.00 pm. The group judge was the equally well-known all-rounder Mr L. Wilberg from Norway
Unfortunately it was once again the Bouvier who won the group, but we took 2nd place in the strong group 1
Now it was Chris’ turn with group 1 of the best junior dogs. Here too, group 1 at the very end. Mr G. Jipping/NL judges the junior groups.
We stood at the ring to support our Chris with ‘Winnetou’. It helped!
Winner of group 1 of the junior dogs was again ‘ Winnetou from Elbe-Urstromtal
Last but not least, the livestream from Sunday, Group 1 is again at the very end.
We were back home around 10 pm
