“Caro” wint Best in Show

In October, we took a break from exhibitions. But from November to mid-December, it’s a full schedule with a show every weekend!

We kicked things off with the best result one could wish for:

BEST in SHOW at the Int. Show in Bleiswijk/NL

Fin-LUX-D-VDH-Ch. “Vorbildlich aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal,” just 25 months old.

The last time I achieved this was back in 2007 with her great-grandfather “Multi Ch. Eldorado aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal” winning Best in Show at the Winner Amsterdam. As far as I know, no other OES has won this in the Netherlands since then.

On Saturday, there were 8 OES entered for the breed specialist Mr. Mark Wibier/NL in Bleiswijk (180 km from Maaseik). “Caro” received a wonderful report from him and won Best of Breed.

The large Group 1 for herding dogs was also judged by Mr. Wibier, who awarded 1st place to our “Caro.” These are pure moments of joy and a rush of adrenaline. This was Caro’s 3rd group win (German Winner in July, Int. Show in Luxembourg in September), with two 2nd places in Mechelen and Maastricht and a 3rd place in April at the same show.

Fantastic and we’re over the moon, but on Sunday we had to drive back to Bleiswijk. We quickly organized a dog sitter, as we needed to leave around 12:30. Traffic was heavy, and there was thick fog.

At 5:00 pm, the renowned judge and famous Borzoi breeder Anita Gielesse/NL judged Best in Show. In the final round, 10 dogs from 10 different groups remained in the competition. All had to walk again and were thoroughly examined.

Finally, only 2 remained: our “Caro” and the Scottish Terrier.

I was surprisingly relaxed, and then the judge came over to us, shook my hand, and said: Here you go, BEST IN SHOW!

In that moment, you’re on cloud nine, enjoying all the congratulations from people, judges, and fellow exhibitors who share in the joy.

Monday is just Monday again, life goes on, and the cloud slowly fades away.

We are still floating a little on the marvellous pink cloud with our ‘Caro’. A big thank you for all the congratulations from all over the world. We were pleasantly surprised to see who was happy with us. PPP Prints took this beautiful photo of us with Caro at the show.

On Monday evening, our victorious ‘Caro’ was our beloved pet again and wanted to play with Paul on the sofa.
