Exhibitions July 2022

July is already a top month for our breeding. Sunday 10-7-2022 was just great.

Amilia Helin was in Sweden at the national show in Tvääker. The judge for our breed was Mr. Rui Oliviera/Portugal. He gave Ch. Seepferdchen aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal” the CAC with Best of Breed. Mrs. Annika Ulltveit-Moe/SWE judged Group 1 and “Rolfi” took 2nd place in strong competition. We are all very proud of our Swedish Team Rolfi’s daughter was best bitch.

We were with “Cooper” on the same day in Neuss/GER at the German Winner Show. It was 20 degrees with clouds, ideal for an outdoor show. But…… walking from the parking lot to the entrance was like preparing for the Iron Man competition. The way from the entrance to our ring, very far away, at the back at the end of the site, an impertinence! Dusty paths that Paul and I managed with difficulty. Pulling or pushing the cage with Cooper and the bags is almost impossible. We left the other trolley with the tent and the chairs somewhere and tried to reach our destination together. The very strong rubber tires of our Tholo trolley are broken.

After we finally got to the ring and set up our tent, we saw the condition of the ring. The mowed, dry grass/hay was lying around in big heaps. There were also numerous deep and large holes in the ring. Very dangerous for handler and dog, both could have broken their legs.

Conclusion: actually a cheek!!!! Of course it was me again, with the big mouth, who, together with dear Mrs. Honnef, managed to get a helper with a rake, flat shovels and bark mulch to appear somewhere.

With combined forces we raked the ring hay-free with a rake and a shovel. Then filled the numerous holes with the bark mulch. Still, it was risky to run at a faster pace.

It turned out to be a really great day. The judge was the Hungarian Mr. A. Korocz, for the 12 entered dogs

“Cooper” became best male and best of breed and has finished his titles of German and VDH Champion. Ch. Rock me Amadeus aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”

“Ziva” received the CACIB, CAC. Ch.” Sexy Girl aus dem  Elbe-Urstomtal” owner M. Weissmann.

“Antonia von den Wasen-Bobby’s” owned by the Schlander family became the best bitch in the youth class

these 3 dogs have my “Multi Ch. Norman Harrison aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal” as father. Three different bitches are the mothers and “Norman” has only mated 13 x in his 8 years of life. He has proven himself to be a top sire and I am bursting with pride and love my Norman more than anything.

At 9.30 we were done with judging. Now the long wait began. It had become very fresh, only 19 degrees and light drizzle. The ring of honor starts at 4 p.m. My dear Monika Fuss was at the show with her Bearded Collie male “Ch.Firstprizeears Pikes Peak“. We also bred him. Like the day before, “Pike” won Best of Breed and we waited together. We still had a mammoth task ahead of us! Any luggage we have needed to be  moved back, as  in the morning. The ring of honor was at the entrance. Walking  “Cooper” wasn’t an option as it was so dusty and dirty. He had to stay clean for the ring of honor.

The day ended with a highlight for me as a breeder of the Fristprizebears Bearded Collies and the Elbe-Urstromtal OES. Group 1 is always very large and well stocked with top dogs. Certainly at this German Winner Show. Group 1 judge was Mr. P. Harsanyi from Hungary.

Group 1 was won by Monika with her “Pike” and I came second with “Cooper”. I think there are very, very few breeders in Europe who can do something like this. It was a very great honor for me and reminded me of the times when we won that at many occasions in the Netherlands. The culmination of my life as a breeder was winning the “Best Dog of ALL Breeds” in the Netherlands in 1999 with Ch. Not for Sale aus dem Elbe Urstromtal” and the 2nd Best Top Dog of All Breeds was our Bearded Collie “Ch. Firstprizebears Niagara Falls” owned by Marja Eilers-Ojevaar. No other breeder has managed to replicate this until now.

Impressions from the  show

On July 23rd, 2022 we were with our “Lilou” in Marche en Famenne, that is the former Liège exhibition. The halls there have been demolished. It is further away, driving a lot on country roads. Beautiful halls with lots of space. Mrs. Katja Jasica from Belgium was  judging the bobtails for the first time in Belgium. Only a few OES were registered. But our Ch. Seejungfrau from the Elbe-Urstromtal” won the CACIB, CAC and became Best of Breed. In group 1 she was still among the last 6. A good day.

Our wonderful “Lilou” just 3 years old and mother of a 4 month old litter.

On July 30th, 2022 there was an exhibition in Norway, namely by the Drokbak Klubben . The Norwegian Aalton Pirja was the  judge. Best of the breed was Grete Roed with ‘Turandot aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’. She completed her Norwegian Champion that day and is No. 167 in our breeding history. The crowning glory was that she was 2nd in a strong group 1.

Asne Koch came second best Bitch behind Turandot. But in the youth class with her “Ursula Karven aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”  she was best junior.
