3 days in Dortmund, 3 days of exhibition with all 10 groups. That was the case over the weekend of May 23–25, 2025: the Spring Show on Friday, the European Champion Show on Saturday, and the Agria Show on Sunday. Real challenges!
Chris van Beirendonk attended all three days with her “Winnetou aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”.
On Friday she won Best of Breed with Judge Mr Steinmetz (GER), on Saturday Best Male with Judge Mr Buratti (IT), and again Best Male on Sunday with Judge Mr Wibier (NL).
After our “Ocean” gave birth to 11 puppies overnight from Thursday to Friday, I was able to travel to Dortmund for Saturday and Sunday. My dear Monika Fuss kindly helped me with my girls on both days.
Saturday, judged by Mr Buratti: Best of Breed and new German Club Champion “Ch. Vorbildlich aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”.
I had brought “Tilly” from Martina Weissmann, who received Excellent 1 with CAC and VDH-SA in the intermediate class – “West Side Story aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”.
“Vorbildlich”, the judge Mr Buratti, and “Winnetou” — “West Side Story aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”, 19 months old, the sister of Winnetou
Sunday:
Judge Mr. Mark Wibier (NL): Best of Breed: “Ch. Vorbildlich aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal” and Best Male: “Winnetou aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”
Owner: Chris van Beirendonk
“Tilly” from Martina Weissmann received Excellent 1 with CAC and VDH-SA for “West Side Story aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal” in the intermediate class, and Res-CACIB behind “Caro”.
With these 5 CAC-VDH wins, she is VDH Champion at just 19 months – Champion number 179 in our long list.
This exhausting weekend came to a crowning conclusion: Mr Mark Wibier judged Group 1 and was once again impressed by “Caro”, awarding her the group win. He had already done so in October last year in the Netherlands. At this show, “Caro” won BEST IN SHOW.
This marks her 6th group win in 4 different countries. Our “Caro” is simply a dream dog – not only “Simply the Best” in the ring, but also a joy in everyday life.
In the ring of honour:
Thank you, “Caro”
There’s an exhibition every weekend in June and we’re always there. Quite exhausting! This time it was a 3 hour drive to the north of Holland, to Radewijk. The Champion Clubmatch of the oldest Dutch OES Club took place there. Only 13 dogs were entered. 3 males and 10 females for the all-round judge Mrs Melchior from Luxembourg. Judging was scheduled to start at 11am. That’s why we set off at around 6.30 a.m., myself and my dear Martina Weissmann with her ‘Tilly’. In other words, of the 13 dogs entered, we had 2 females and Chris van Beirendonk had her 2 males. The weather was dry and the course is very nice. But: shortly before 11 o’clock it was announced that the judging would start 30 minutes later, then the 3 males would be judged first. Afterwards there was a lunch break until 2 pm!!!! NOT FUNNY AT ALL!!!! So why did I leave home so early? The judging was not finished until around 4 pm, so we had to drive in the heavy return weekend traffic. Most of the exhibitors and board members live in the area. Only Chris and I had a 3 hour journey.

Best male and best of breed was Chris van Beirendonk with ‘ Winnetou aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’
Best male in the junior class was her young USA import ‘ Love’n Stuff All American Snowbootbears’.
‘Charly‘ Love’n Stuff All American Snowbootbears’ won Res- Best Male over the Champion male ‘ Stairways To Heaven take That’
‘Heidi’ won the junior class and later became “Best Junior in Show” “X’Texas Amarillo aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”, BOS was ’Charly’
‘Tilly’ “Ch. West Side Story aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal” owner Martina Weissmann won the intermediate class. However, I was very disappointed when she was only Res- Best Bitch. But I think the judge didn’t want to give this win to Chris and me as well…
