Exhibitions February 2025

Moescroen in Belgium is really not the kind of exhibition you want to go to. Not much space, it stinks in the hall of deep-fried chips and burnt fat from baking waffles. I thought that the judge, Mr Jean Jaque Dupas, was a good judge. That’s why we had entered  ‘Skipper’, he still needed his last CACIB for the international title. Mr Dupas was also judging Group 1 and I thought I take also ‘Caro’ with me.

On 1 February I fell ill, I was sick and didn’t feel well at all. Nevertheless, I travelled to the hotel in Kortijk so that I could be in front of the hall on time the next morning. On arrival at the hotel, I went straight to bed and travelled to the exhibition in the morning still feeling ill. There I waited 1 hour in front of the doors until they finally opened at 8am….. 1 hour at zero degrees.

I’ll make it short: it was a bad day, ‘Udo Jürgens aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’ was only Res-Best Male, ‘Vorbildlich aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’ was Best Bitch, but not Best of Breed. I think that was a really bad decision!!!! The only advantage of this shitty day was that we were able to drive home at 12.30 and our dogs were happily waiting for us

On 15 and 16 February 2025, a double CACIB plus a CAC show took place in faraway Costa Rica. Silvia Gonzales Aparicio had spared neither expense nor effort and had David Padilla flown in from Mexico. At  the Euro OES Show in France 2023 David had shown ‘Aramis’ coming from Guatelmala, bred from me in 2023.  He also recently had ‘Underpressure aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’ from Georgina Jensen from San Francisco with him andmade  her up  to Mexican Champion.

Now it was the 16 month old ‘White Socks aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’ that he showed at the Roy Mc Gregor show.

She won 3 x Best of Breed, Best of Group 1 under the judge Herrm Alvaro Salazar Castro and 2nd place in the group under the judge Norma Escalante

We were on 16-2-2025 at the ‘Dog of the Year 2025’ show of the Dutch Raad van Beheer, which took place in Schiedam, near Rotterdam. For this show the dog must be Dutch owned and registered in the Dutch Studbook. In addition, the dog must win first, second or third place in the group. A total of 341 dogs were at the start. Of these, 20 were veterans and Dutch breeds. In Group 1 there were a total of 39 dogs and were judged by the well-known all-rounder Mr Rob Douma.

‘LUX-NL-BEL-Ch. Udo Jürgens aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’, owned by Liliane and Mike Friederich from Nieuwstad/NL, was the only Dutch OES to qualify. As you know, our ‘Caro’ lives with us in Belgium and was therefore unable to take part. Afterwards we had to realise that it was also possible to enter a foreign dog here by being sneaky…

We had a great day, our ‘Skipper’ was among the last 6 dogs from the big group 1. Two of them were only placed. But to be in the last 6 is great.
