Exhibitions August 2024
My hard-working ladies Weissman and Jolink don’t take a vacation from exhibitions. Martina Weissmann was at the 2-day double exhibition in Ludwigshafen/GER. The weather was excellent as many rings are outdoors. I like this exhibition very much. The judges on Saturday were Mr. J. Hartig and on Sunday Ms. H. Müller-Heinz, both from Germany. Ms. Müller used to show OES very successfully herself and bred them under “Wild Frisian” Affixe.
“West Side Story aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal“, owner Martina Weissmann, won the youth class on both days and was best young dog of the breed on both days. Unfortunately there are no photos from Saturday.
It was pouring rain on Sunday morning, this is what the Bobtail Ring looked like! It was moved because it was unacceptable
On Sunday Gerda Jolink arrived with her Multi Ch. “Ultra Chic aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal” and not without success. Best of the breed!

Congratulations
On Saturday, August 23rd, 2024, we went to the exhibition in Mechelen/BEL. This city is located between Brussels and Antwerp and has been taking place for ages and I have exhibited there many, many times. It is the large Nekkarhalle where the show takes place. Many times we have won the group there with our Bobtails or Bearded Collies. It was always a good exhibition for us.
This time it was to be like that too. Ch. “Udo Jürgens aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal” won his 3rd Belgian CAC with CACIB and was named Best Male. The judge was the Dutch woman Anita Gielisse. She is a very successful breeder of Borzois, who regularly exhibits them and wins, and has done so for decades.
The “lady” who lost with her champion male showed her well-known worst side and caused trouble again, and her volume was enough to fill the hall with sound. These are the ugly things. If you can’t lose with dignity, you should stay at home!
“Caro” was there too. She was named Best Female with CACIB, CAC and Best of Breed.
Chris van Beirendonk was kind enough to take over ” Skipper” when it came to the best of breed. Many thanks Chris
Best male “Ch. Udo Jürgens aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal“, owner family Friederich, the judge Mrs Gielisse, best of breed “Ch. Vorbildlich aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal”
The ring of honour was judged at around 4 p.m. Group 1 was judged by the Irish woman K. Gilliland. That was good for our young “Caro”. Mrs. Gilliand thought she was very beautiful and placed us in second place. We were of course very happy and proud of that. “Caro” is doing really well.
You can watch the judging of Group 1 here on this link.
Gerd Jolink made the long journey from the Netherlands to Lucerne in Switzerland. There was a CAC and a CACIB show on Saturday. There was another CACIB show on Sunday. It was 32 degrees on Saturday and rained on Sunday; it was an outdoor show. “Ziva” already has the Swiss Champion, which takes more than a year inbetween to achieve. She also has the Swiss Beauty Champion, for which you only need 3 CACs. BUT….. Since the beginning of the year there has been the Swiss Grand Champion. To achieve this, the dog must have already won both titles and then win the CAC 3 times at a Swiss show.
Yes, and that’s what Int-NL-B-LUX-D-VDH-S-DK-CH and CH-Show Champion “Ultra Chic aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal” got this weekend: 3x CACIB with 2 x Res-CACIB and is now the first Old English Sheepdog to hold the title of “Swiss Grand Champion”. I think it’s the most expensive title you can win. Chapeau Gerda.
August as a show month ends fantastic! At the big double CACIB show in Luxembourg we were represented with 5 Elbe Urstromtaler on Saturday 31/8/2024.
Angelika Bardelli was represented with her little ‘X’Lonestar aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’, she won Best Baby on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday she was among the last 6 babies in the ring of honour.
Martina Weissmann won Best Junior on Saturday (she stayed at home on Sunday) with her ‘ Tilly’, Luxembourg Junior Champion and now also FCI Junior Champion ‘ West Side Story aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’.
Conny very happy with ‘ Caro’ more afterwards. Sunday we had not entered. I choose my judges!
Once again Angelika Bardelli with Ch. ‘ Verliebt aus dem Elbe-Urstomtal’ who became Luxembourg Champion on Saturday. Her 6 titles with just 2 years. On Sunday again CAC and Res- CACIB
at the end Chris van Beirendonk with ‘ Tilly’s’ brother the impressive ‘ Winnteou aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’ who now also carries the title Luxembourg Junior Champion.
Thanks to my dear and loyal exhibitors for their appreciation and trust in my breeding.
“Caro” was awarded Best of Breed by the judge Mr Hans Joachim Dux from Germany. Our ‘Vorbildlich aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal’ is just 23 months old
But that didn’t quite make the day perfect. The big group 1 was judged by the esteemed Mrs R. Wagner from Luxembourg and she was also enthusiastic about ‘Caro’ and gave her 1st place. That was just great.
Here are all the impressions of the day. We got up at 6am in Luxembourg and were back home in Maaseik by 10pm.
