50 Jaar

50 years exhibition

50 years ago today I visited the show in Neumünster with my 8 month old Old English Sheepdog bitch “Cora vom Glinder Berg”. It was on may 28th in 1972

In these 50 years I have traveled all over Europe and have exhibited in almost all European countries. I was also twice in Israel in 1987 and 2002 and I even went to Colorado in the USA in 1997 for the National Specialty.

I have completed 25 to 40 (yes 40…) exhibitions per year. Nowadays it’s still about 20 shows a year. 70,000 km driven a year, exhibited in Klagenfurt/Austria on Saturday and in Denmark on Sunday. Or Saturday in Oldenburg/North of Germany and Sunday in Turin/Italy. Won top dog in Denmark and the Netherlands in one year, that was a lot of driving.

It never stopped being fun. I still know the number of entries from 180 OES at a show. In those 50 years I’ve won almost everything there is to win, including 1st place in the breeding group 38 times. I originally come from Wittorf near Lüneburg/Germany, that explains my kennel name “aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal “. In 1988 I moved to the Netherlands and in 1996 to Belgium.

In these 50 years, 174 dogs from my kennel have become champions.

In 1989 the Firstprizebears Bearded Collies came along and accompanied me to the show with my bobtails. The very last litter is expected in 2022. Then this chapter is over. In these 33 years, 132 Bearded Collie champions have become champions.

I still enjoy going to shows with my dogs. As long as my health allows, I will continue. Just driving long distances is no longer fun for me. Since I turned 45, e.g. B. Denmark to be much further away than it actually is.
